The path I took

I'm still not sure why but I stopped reading Thrillers and all of the other Genres I like. The great book drought of 2014 lasted about three or four months. Then I slipped into analysing my favourite thrillers. Just, y'know, thinking about them. Kicking around how they were actually constructed? Was there any patterns or whatever? Nothing structured or focused just random thoughts occurring at odd moments. Then I sorta, kinda, got an general idea together that I might write my own thriller.

Then I ran in the opposite direction as fast as I could.

My friend told me to stop being such a wuss (she's really tough). So by about 2015 I started writing. Mostly at night. Laptop, couch, psycho dogs snoozing. Tappity Tap Tap. Finished it early this year, just in time for lockdown here in Ireland. I gave it to some beta readers (a publisher, a book reviewer and a newspaper editor) of my acquaintance. They were suspiciously kind but clearly pointed me in the direction of some major rewrites.

Next I slipped 3 discs in my lower back lifting a manhole cover (don't ask - my family call it Sewergate!) which meant I was immobile for about 6 weeks so the rewrites happened. Finally, a few days ago the book appeared on Amazon.

"Run From The Devil".

More random thoughts and ideas are beginning to bounce around now....! Stay tuned.
